The T-Spot Welcomes Annie Seaton!

The T-Spot is back!!!

Grab your beverage of choice (Mimosas for me, of course!), roll up to or flip open a screen and let some talented writers talk to you about their writing process.

This week: Annie Seaton is in the spotlight!Annie_Seaton (2)

Annie lives in the beautiful New South Wales, Australia with her husband and two grown children. (The two grown children no longer live with them :-) –that pleasure goes to her dog and two cats.) She writes contemporary romance that “always have a happily ever after.”  So let me get out of the way and cede the stage, stool and microphone to Annie:

1. Have you always written stories?

I have always been an avid reader and I’ve dreamed up stories in my head for many years.

2. When did you decide to write professionally?

I decided to write professionally when I retired just over two years ago.

3. What made you decide to go the route you chose (eg. traditional, e-pub, indie)?

I find epub a very exciting time for readers and writers. The price point, the availability, the portability! I am published with two epublishers and have a lot more books coming out with Entangled this year! I have also indie published two books and I love having the freedom to experiment.

4. What is your writing process (hrs/day, days/wk)?

I write 9-5, five days every week… and edit and promote on weekends as well!

5. How do you write (crappy first draft then revise or revise as you go)? Why?

I write a fairly clean first draft  and then go over what I have written each morning before I add to it and tighten and polish continuously. There is very little editing to be done by the time I finish!

6. Do you get writer’s block? If so, how do you handle it?

On the rare occasion that the muse does desert me .. I go for a long walk on the beach. The ocean feeds my creativity and I am lucky enough to live where I overlook the beach. I usually come back and write a whole chapter!

7. What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

All of it really. I love what I do… I love coming up with the ideas, writing, editing and seeing the cover produced.. and then the promotion is fun too!

8. Where were you when you got “The Call?”

I was about to go to a writers’ group monthly lunch when I received ‘the’ email…so there was lots of celebrating with like-minded people!

9. If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing you have since learned about the business of writing, what would you tell them (you)?

Maybe make the time to write when I was a bit younger..however I think life experience is a real positive for me. My writing may not have been as successful if I had tried to do it when I was a career educator.

Fun Topics:

10. Wine, liquor or beer? What’s your favorite of the spirit you chose?

Wine and champagne.

11. What author(s) are on your automatic buy list?

Sharon Penman, Nora Roberts, Ian Rankin and Peter Robinson.

12. What TV shows are you watching?

The Big Bang Theory.  {Tracey’s Note: So many of the authors I’ve interviewed said they watch this show. I’m setting my TiVo right now.}

13. Who is your celebrity crush and why?

David Bowie.. I love his music and his creativity.

Thank you so much for the interview, Annie! You can find more info at her website: http://annieseatonromance.com/ and connect with her on Facebook at AnnieSeatonAuthor and on Twitter @AnnieSeaton26. Her Musa Publishing release, Blind Lust, is available NOW!!!

Blind LustWhen Venus has a wager with Cupid, that prudish librarian, Lizzy Sweet cannot be enticed to love, she neglects to tell her son that Lizzy is a three hundred year old witch. The first man Lizzy sees after Cupid shoots his arrow is Josh Deegan, a famous country and western singer who has come to town to rediscover his muse, in an old farmhouse haunted by a culinary ghost. Local warlock, Wesley Gordon, who has been hitting on Lizzy to no avail for over one hundred years, is not impressed. The quirky old folk of Silver Valley watch fondly as the battle between love and lust plays out. Leaden and golden arrows zing around, spells are magicked, potions stirred, and ghosts hunted. Who will fall in love and who will let the other go forever?

Are you watching The Big Bang Theory? And which authors are on your automatic buy list? Tell us what you think and make sure you check back next week to see which fabulous author is hanging out at the T-Spot.

  1. Hi Annie & Tracey! Fun post. So envious of your access to the beach. Sounds like heaven to be able to just up and take a walk on the beach whenever you need the break! Blind Lust sound like a fun read – those gods love to meddle, don’t they?

  2. Hi Denise… being so close to the beach IS heaven! And yes, those gods love to meddle. Blind Lust is one of my favorite stories and the ghost is actually based on a real ghost!

  3. KM Rockwood says:

It really sounds like you have “it” all together! Your writing process (and your life!) are productive and satisfying. And the book is intriguing. Best of luck with it, and I hope it leads to many more successes.

  4. Nice post. I enjoyed it. I am also envious of your focus of writing 9-5. I am unemployed, though I am a college student (and don’t study nearly as much as I should), but I still waste a lot of time each day that I could put to productive writing or study use. I wish you much luck in your writing career.
