Buns N’ Roses Crab Cake & Drink Recipe
If you’re attending Buns n’ Roses 2020 this weekend (October 16-18), I hope you’re signed up for the Sunday event, Culture, Cocktails and Culinary Creations hosted by me, Priscilla Oliveras and Vanessa Riley. During our event, we’ll make drinks and dishes inspired by our books and/or our culture. To get the party started, we’re giving you the drink recipes in advance, so you can mix up the cocktails with us. You can find links to the drinks Pris and Vanessa chose at the bottom of the page.
Maryland Style Crab Cakes
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 1 TBSP chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tsp dijon mustard
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 pound of fresh lump crab meat
- 2/3 cup saltine crackers crumbs
- 2 TBSP melted butter
Directions
- Whisk the egg, mayo, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, lemon juice and salt together in a large bowl. Place the crab meat on top of the mixture, followed by the cracker crumbs and gently fold all ingredients together. Remember, gently.
- Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and no longer than 24 hours.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray baking sheet with nonstick spray.
- Portion crab cake mixture into even portions on the baking sheet. If you want 6 large crab cakes, use a 1/2 cup measuring cup; for 12 crab cakes, use a 1/4 cup measuring cup; for 24 mini crab puffs, use 2 TBSP size portions. Note that baking time may be shorter for the mini size cakes.
- Brush the tops of each cake with melted butter.
- Bake 12-14 minutes until cakes are lightly browned around the edges and on the top.
** Cover leftover crab cakes tightly and refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.
** You can freeze the portioned, unbaked crab cakes for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator, brush with the melted butter, then bake as directed.
Drink Shooter Recipe
My drink was chosen because it was one of the drinks my heroine Nic ordered during a night out with her friends. If you want to see which other suggestively named drinks she imbibed, check out LIKE LOVERS DO.
Hope to see you on Sunday!
